Legacies - Where there’s a Will there’s a way

As a charity North Wales Deaf Association is dependent on the support and generosity of the public.

Legacies - gifts left to us by people in their Wills are a very important part of our income. The money we receive from legacies enables us to provide the advice and support people with a hearing loss in North Wales need.

Making a Will
Making a will is not as difficult or expensive as you may think and may be one of the most important things you do.

You will need a will if you want to look after your family and friends and to remember your favourite charities, like NWDA. Without a will, you won't have a say in what happens when you are no longer around.

Where do I start?
It is best to use a Solicitor, who will be able to advise you on legal aspects, different ways to make a will and to make sure it is a correct legal document.

Up dating a will
Some times you may want to change your will. Most minor changes can be made by adding a codicil.

A legacy gift to NWDA can be added to an exisitng will by a codicil.

There are three ways in which you can leave your gift to North Wales Deaf Association:

A residuary gift
After providing for friends and family, many of our supporters decide to leave the residue of their estate, or a percentage of the residue, to North Wales Deaf Association. This is a particularly popular way to leave a gift to charity as the gift increases in line with inflation.

A cash gift
A cash gift is a fixed amount of money. It is important to remember that cash gifts do decrease in value over time and therefore may need to be reviewed from time to time.

A gift in kind
A gift in kind is an item you decide to leave to North Wales Deaf Assocation and could be property, shares, a piece of art work or an antique etc.
