TRAINING

Click to View View Deaf Awareness Training Information in BSL Deaf awareness training is one of the Association's core activities. It continues to be a growth area for North Wales Deaf Association with a number of organisations and businesses using the training to ensure that they are complying with the Disability Discrimination Act.

A deaf awareness course includes an introduction to deafness, basic tips for improved communication techniques, finger spelling, awareness of sign language, basic survival signs and Deaf culture.

A new course introduced during 2003 was the CACDP Communication Tactics Certificate, this was followed by the introduction of Deaf History and Culture. NWDA offers the two courses together with a double accreditation.

Additional courses for 2005 include Basic Makaton, BSL Awareness and Disability Awareness Training.
